chapter 14

Better in the Afterlife

Pictorial Postcards Zeppelins Cigarette Silks Cigar Silks Leaps of Faith Mason Jar Animal Traps Slogan Buttons Misinformation Booklets Horrors of War Cards

Mason canning jar with lid converted to make a mousetrap, c. 1865. 7 1/4" high. USA

Better in the Afterlife contemplates those questionable manufactured goods, the conception of which seems remote and flawed. Each is more compelling as an endangered species than it was in its heyday (ex: zeppelins, pictorial postcards, leaps of faith objects, slogan buttons, Horrors of War bubble gum cards, cigarette silks, cigar silks, Mason jar animal traps, misinformation booklets).
